ABOUT

The 2nd International Workshop on Intelligent Environments and Buildings (IEB'19) will be held within the 16th International Conference on Intelligent Environments (IE'20) in Madrid (Spain) on June 22-25 2020.

Smart city is an abstract projection of the community of the future. It is a conceptual perimeter defined by a set of needs that find answers in technologies, services and electronic applications. Traceability to different sectors such as smart building, inclusion, energy, environment, government, living, mobility, education, health, and much more could be made. Whether individually or collectively, these technologies, services and applications do not constitute a smart city if they are not integrated into a platform, a platform that ensures interoperability and coordination. Above all, the definition of appropriate tools for governance and financing are essential elements for the implementation of the political and social vision constituting the smart city.

As a vital component of the smart city, smart buildings can foster energy efficiency and tackle the reduction of CO2 emissions within the atmosphere. They can guarantee good lighting, ventilation, cooling rates, along with other aspects of building demands in real-time.

Monitoring and sensing combined solutions with simple and efficient methods are the protagonists of advanced sustainable building technology, for instance, the implementation of overheating mitigation strategies such as shading systems, free and ground-cooling.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Innovative smart construction is a key element for developing and keeping smart cities, building products, materials and industrial processes economically competitive and ecologically sustainable. Smart construction science requires a multi-discipline approach embracing architecture, design, engineering, chemistry, physics, as well as theoretical and practical applications from companies and institutions. State-of-the-art of integrated technologies for smart building envelopes with differentiated solutions for urban and non-urban areas: Energy Efficiency towards nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB), Low CO2 emissions and air quality, High in-and outdoor quality are the challenges of the building sector today. The event will provide an overview of current research and developments (R&D) in the ongoing work on smart cities, construction science and technology, and will offer a platform for discussions about future perspectives. During the one-day event, renowned players of research and innovation on smart technologies will lecture and discuss about their new advances. Participants need to cover the travel support, accommodation, and participation. Videoconference could also be considered for foreign participants. Institutions, researchers and related – industries are peer-reviewed to participate via article submissions.

Submissions
